Aging of steel standards

Post by Anette von der Handt » Thu Aug 03, 2017 2:08 am

Hello,

Let's make a start here in the forum.

I have a very large collection of steel standards of various (purchase) age and just found another set in the department attic with NBS steels dating back to the 1930'ies and 1940'ies (at least).

Strain aging of steels is a well-known process in metallurgy as far as I understand but I wonder if anyone has more information or has anecdotes about aging and reliability of their steel standards for microbeam analysis?

Thanks!
